It is not always possible to identify a cable to be worked on with absolute certainty. Therefore, the clear determination of the absence of voltage sometimes causes major difficulties. In order to protect the workers from danger, safety cutting systems are used to determine the absence of voltage in accordance with DIN VDE0105 T.1, Section 9.6.4 (07 83).

These portable cable-cutting devices are used for safe cutting of cables with nominal voltages of up to 60 kV, where it cannot be clearly determined whether their voltage-free state is ensured. Accordingly, these units are completely filled with non-conductive oil and consist of a battery-powered pump with an 18V - 8Ah lithium-ion battery, a 10 m long non-conductive high-pressure hose and a cutting head. Both the pump and the head are equipped with an earthing point to better adapt to the procedures of the respective utility company.
