More and more devices are powered by rechargeable batteries. Whilst this is convenient, it also requires us to use them responsibly.

Whether you’re a tradesman, a construction firm or a local authority: in the rigours of everyday work, tools or equipment powered by lithium batteries can sometimes be damaged through improper handling – or the battery itself may be faulty.

 

This is dangerous: exploding lithium batteries can cause major fires, leading to serious financial consequences. As the owner or managing director, you are liable for any costs incurred. If the battery is not secured in accordance with legal requirements, you even risk losing your insurance cover.

 

Since 2021, TRGS 510 has been in force, which explicitly highlights the increased risk of ignition or thermal runaway in lithium batteries.

These must undergo a risk assessment prior to use.

 

As the person in charge, you must ensure that risks are eliminated as far as possible – and that you know when the situation becomes critical.

Faulty lithium batteries must be stowed safely whilst on the move to prevent the risk of fire.

To eliminate any risk, the B Battery System Fire Protection BoxB has been developed. Lined with non-flammable materials, the box has B UN approvalB for the safe transport of lithium batteries in packaging groups II and III.

These battery charging cabinets are designed for the safe storage and charging of lithium batteries indoors. They are tested in accordance with VDMA Standard Sheet 24994 (Edition 08/2024) and provide unrestricted fire protection with no time limit.
